MEGU REACHES NEW CULINARY HEIGHTS

The finest Japanese concept and sushi bar marks its highly anticipated return, reincarnated with a fresh culinary perspective and curated bar presentation set amidst the long-lasting Dream Downtown Hotel in Chelsea.

Megu greets guests having a scroll-laden suite, offering a front row seat in the sushi bar or private dining area. Neon red glows throughout the establishment, creating a posh subterranean environment by which an infinity-mirrored staircase descends into the Kimono Room, Bar and Lounge, similar to a rather futuristic shoji screen. A visible tapestry of exotic Asian motifs set against a backdrop of customizable lights and 3-D imaging in the primary dining area introduces an unparalleled event and dining experience. The 5,000 square-foot venue with 145 seats is stuffed with customary Japanese interior accents, complimented with a contemporary ambiance.

The top level would go to the cuisine, which is led through the duo of Culinary Director, Nils Noré and Chef de Cuisine, David Rashty. The menu features modern Japanese fare and sushi, with appetizers such as spicy cheese dumplings full of mozzarella, feta, scallions and tomato-chili sauce or subscriber for that classic miso soup with soft tofu and wakame topped with scallions. Small plates are great for sharing and can include an edamame platter, crispy rock shrimp, wagyu gyoza, tuna tartare, Hamachi and much more. If that doesn't tempt your tastebuds, recption menus is an endless listing of delectable options such as sake braised short rib, filet mignon, hassle back Japanese sweet potato, Okinawa potato ravioli, cucumber salad and baked little neck clams.

The sushi and sashimi menu is equal in quality and variety with items such as Megu roll with spicy tuna, crispy potato, akami and kanzuri mayo or opt in for the meatpacking roll with A5 wagyu, foie gras, simmered daikon, mushroom, crunchy leeks and BBQ sauce. They also offer the beloved classics such as tuna avocado, spicy tuna, cucumber avocado and unagi avocado.
