I love Amsterdam. With street names like PC Hoofdstraat and also the Vondelpark, I know just the Von Trapps and Clogs – happy times. This hotel is one for the philosophy lovers. So, get your heads from the clouds you dreamers! Unless, obviously, you're staying in Hotel De Filosoof's 'Cloud Room' that is decorated in the style of surrealist, Magritte who used a lot of clouds in the paintings. The area is also dedicated to Socrates and the ancient playwright, Aristophanes. Here, each room are unique bits of design based on the themes of philosophy and art. Let's hope there's no Diogenes room!* There is a place to be suitable for philosophical thinking. Your accommodation resides inside a quiet neighborhood and you have use of a lovely outside garden/courtyard. You can pick the 'Passion Room' which focused on 'Eros' and 'Platonic' love (apparently, the designers don't see a contradiction within this) or even the unusual Wittgenstein Room. And when these solemn philosophers had seen their work getting used to such great effect, they may have cheered up a little.
*Diogenes was the philosopher who famously lived 'like a dog' around the streets of Athens
